End of Summer Day Retreat
4th September 2022
10am - 4pm
In collaboration with the Turner Contemporary in Margate and Mediterranean restaurant Barletta.
Held at the private elegant Foyle Rooms of the Turner Contemporary, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Margate sea join Ruben for a day of yoga, swimming, food, and art.
The urban day retreat will start with a 75min yoga and breath practice to get you ready to jump in the sea. Get embodied with an all-level, strong and steady, flow practice where you will be encouraged to slow down and invite peace to the mind. During the session you will learn breathing techniques to face the cold water and understand how to ease into it.
Post practice join Ruben for a refreshing swim in the sea, followed by lunch, and a tour of the Gallery.
Some of the benefits of cold water swimming.
Do you dare?

It reduces stress
It is a great way of socializing and making new friends
Margate offers the possibility to use the local Margate beach (2 minutes walk) or the tidal pool of Walpole Bay (15 minutes walk).
If swimming is not for you, or in the case of rain or high tide, you will have time before lunch to explore Margate Old Town, just at the front step of the `Turner Contemporary.
A three courses lunch will be assembled for us in the private Foyle room by the team at Barletta. If you have joined Ruben's events before, you know that food won't let you down. Expect a seasonally led menu taking inspiration from the Mediterranean and British classics curated by Barletta's Chef.
All dieatery requirements will be considered.
After lunch, a member of the Turner Contemporary will introduce the current open exhibition allowing you free time to wander in the Gallery or venture for another adventure in Margate to end the day.
This retreat will be a moment to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and discover one of the most vibrant, up and coming, seaside towns in the UK.

Ruben's attention to detail and mindset were the cherry on an already pretty amazing cake.

Ruben puts a lot of care, thought and effort into his retreats. The classes were excellent, I learnt a lot, had fun and felt like I got stronger and improved already.
- Puglia, 2022
I enjoyed so much the classes, the poems and the music. I am feeling so relief! Ruben's passion really came out through the experience, every detail, every moment spoke about his positive energy and kind heart.

- The facility does NOT offer a shower or locker room. The toilets of the Turner Contemporary will be available if you wish to get changed. We advise wearing your swimming kit for yoga practice if you intend to swim, this will help us save time in between activities.
- There are NO showers or towels available. Please bring your own equipment to stay warm and dry thoughout the day.
- The Turner Contemporary offers free use of storage lockers (on a first come first serve basis). Bags can be left in the Foyle rooms until the end of lunch.
- Yoga Mats kindly offered by Yogi Bare.
- In case of rain or high tide, the yoga class will be longer with a Yang to Yin flow workshop. In that case there will be time to embark together on a walk around Margate Old Town.
